Our Mission

A²MEND’s mission is to advocate for the academic, psychological and spiritual development of Black male students, faculty, staff and administrators in educational systems.

A²MEND educators utilize their scholarship, professional expertise and influence to foster institutional change while creating independent educational spaces and institutions to increase the success of Black male students within education and other systems.

Our Impact

•500+ African American male community college students have been mentored through the A²MEND Mentorship Initiative.

•$500,000 in scholarships have been awarded to African American male students in California’s community college system.

•5,000+ individuals have participated in the A²MEND Anti-Racist Institute.

•270 professionals have completed the A²MEND Women’s Leadership Institute.

•25 students received learning abroad scholarships to travel to Africa since 2018.

•44 A²MEND Student Charters are based on community college campuses throughout California.

•A²MEND hosts the nation’s largest post-secondary conference focusing on African American male student success, annually drawing 1,000+ professionals and students.
